Viewing Others' Records

  • If another MyOSCAR user has shared their record with you, you may be able to view portions of it depending on the role they have assigned to you (see Sharing and Roles).  However, you may not know to which role you have been assigned.  If you receive an error message while attempting to view or change a portion of another user's record, your role does not allow that action.  Click OK and refresh your screen if needed.

View, Edit, Add as a Primary Care Provider

  • Once logged onto MyOSCAR, click on the SHARING button on the top bar.
  • Towards the bottom of the screen, under Viewing other people's records, there will appear a list of users whose records you can see. Click on the ID of the user whose record you wish to view.
  • On the resulting screen, the top bar menu (MESSAGES, EXPORT RECORD, SHARING, LOG OUT) is your own.  The side menu belongs to the other person, with the exception of HOME; any a New Message bulletin will take you to your own inbox, as you do not have access to the other person's. Click on any of the other side menu buttons to view this user's record.
  • You can now view or update this user's record as if it were your own.  For specific instructions on how to make a change, see 2. MyOSCAR Personal Health Record in the Table of Contents.
  • Use the Send Message button on the horizontal grey bar containing the user's name to conveniently send them a message.
  • When you are done viewing the other person's record, click the Close User button on the horizontal grey bar to return to your own record.

View as a Family Member

  • Click on the SHARING button on the top bar.
  • Click on your family member's ID where it is listed under Viewing other people's records (not in the Active Shares table).
  • On the resulting screen, the top bar menu is your own.  The side menu belongs to your family member.  Because you do not have access to view most of the sections, they will appear blank should you click on them.  Immunizations as well as information under CONTACT INFO and OTHER CONTACTS can be viewed.
  • Use the Send Message button on your family member's horizontal grey bar to conveniently send them a message.
  • You are not enabled to add or edit any data; an error message will appear if you should try to save any changes.
  • When you are done viewing your family member's record, click the Close User button on the horizontal grey bar.

View as a School

  • Click on the SHARING button on the top bar.
  • Click on the user's ID where it is listed under Viewing other people's records.
  • On the resulting screen, the top bar menu is your own.  The side menu belongs to your family member.  Because you do not have access to view most of the sections, they will appear blank should you click on them.  Additionally, clicking on the SUMMARY button will result in an error message.
  • Immunizations as well as information under CONTACT INFO and OTHER CONTACTS can be viewed.
  • You are not enabled to use the Send Message button on the user's horizontal grey bar to send them a message.  You are also not enabled to add or edit any data.  An error message will appear if you should attempt either action.
  • When you are done viewing this person's record, click the Close User button on the horizonal grey bar.

View as a Research Administrator

  • This is intended for administrators of a study when a Survey section has been enabled. Presently, if you have been assigned this role, you have a link to the user's record but you do not have access to ANY information in it.
  • You are still able to send messages to the user though your own MESSAGES section or using the Send Message button when viewing the outline of their record.

As a Friend

  • If the user has added you as a Friend, a link to their record will not appear on your Active Shares page. Friend access enables messaging only.
